The Willy Chavarria Spring-Summer 2027 bags belong to one of the most emotionally charged shows of Paris Fashion Week Men’s — Comunión, staged at Espace Niemeyer, the curved, space-age headquarters of the French Communist Party designed by Oscar Niemeyer.
Before a single look appeared, guests found handcrafted driftwood palitos gathered in Mexico resting on every seat, each wrapped with scent-infused thread, while the room carried the mossy fragrance of XINÚ’s FlordeMusgo. A guided meditation opened the show, a string quartet gave it ceremony, and the collection that followed — Chavarria’s first with a full 50/50 split between menswear and womenswear — put leather goods at the center of the story. This season, the Bronca bag grew into a family, joined by gold-frame top handles in croc-effect leather, XL suede hobos, and clutches cut from the same cloth as the dresses.

Chavarria described Comunión as the belief that “we are more whole together than apart,” and translated it into ice-cream tailoring, pointed collars, boxer waistbands riding above trousers, and a cast that included Romeo Beckham, Jordan Clarkson and Bella Freud.
The Bronca Bag Becomes a Family: Frame Bags, Pouches, Python and Eel
The Bronca is the anchor of the Willy Chavarria leather goods program. Introduced at the Autumn-Winter 2026 show with a magnetic leather frame and loose “W” belt details, it returned for Spring 2027 in a full run of new variations — exactly what Chavarria promised when he called it a bag built to clear people out of your way when you walk. His muse this season was the “baddie”: the woman who, if someone grabs her bag, fights back with the bag itself, then reapplies her lipstick and keeps walking.
On the runway, the full-frame Bronca appeared in blush pink, royal blue, chocolate brown and black — a structured rectangular body with a rigid frame opening, a single rolled top handle, a central gold D-ring, and those signature elongated belt straps left hanging loose down the front like undone cinches. The construction detail worth studying up close is the appliquéd strap-work: overlapping diagonal bands stitched across the face of the bag, forming a subtle “W” in leather relief.

The second register is the frameless Bronca pouch: the same strap-work body with the hardware stripped back to the D-ring, carried folded under the arm like a soft envelope. This is where the materials got serious — glazed yellow python held against a butter-yellow shirtdress, cobalt eel skin with its unmistakable vertical ridging paired with a flecked grey suit, plus black, brown and pink nappa versions carried by both men and women. The eel and python pouches were the clearest sign that Chavarria is building a real exotics tier inside the line, produced alongside Italian suedes, napas and calfskins.

Gold Western Hardware: Top-Handle Bags and Opera Clutches
The second family speaks a different dialect. These are structured top-handle bags with a flap secured by a sculptural gold closure — a winged, horn-like plate with a ribbed dome button, engraved with the house signature — finished with matching gold corner caps on the flap edges. The shape reads like a 1950s frame purse rescued from a Californian grandmother’s closet and rebuilt at luxury spec.

The lineup covered a deep croc-effect chocolate version carried with a camel suede blouson and turquoise leather culottes; an emerald green edition in smooth calfskin against a sheer floral organza coat; and a larger, slouchier black version whose soft body pulls against the rigid gold closure.

The same hardware scaled up to an XL men’s shoulder tote in black, the soft body slung high under the arm with the winged gold closure sitting at the top edge — proof that the “ladybag” register is deliberately genderless here.

The same gold closure scaled down into elongated opera clutches — the evening translation of the family: a burgundy croc-effect east-west clutch, a grey-taupe snakeskin version, and clean envelope clutches with gold corner caps only, shown in black and coral red against a blue floral jacquard slip dress.

Volume Players: XL Suede Hobos, the W Tote and Grommet Pouches
Chavarria balanced the jewelry-box pieces with serious volume. The oversized hobo — soft, slouchy, with curved seaming, gold snap-hook hardware and a detachable shoulder strap — came in olive suede swinging beside a periwinkle double-breasted suit, in oxblood leather on the shoulder of a silver-haired model in a khaki blazer, and in emerald green worn crossbody over a hooded black coat. The seaming on these follows the same diagonal logic as the Bronca strap-work, which keeps the whole accessories lineup reading as one language.

The chocolate leather W tote is the commuter of the group: a tall square body, twin flat shoulder straps, an exterior zip pocket, and the “W” articulated in stitched panels across the front. Casual pieces closed the loop — a supple leather duffle in black tucked under the arm of an all-black leather look, and a “lunch bag” pouch with oversized gold grommets at each corner, shown in chocolate and in black with a discreet gold-foil WILLY CHAVARRIA stamp.

Soft Sculpture: Satin Pillow Clutches and the Fringe Bag-Dress Pairing
The evening proposition skipped hardware altogether. A steel-blue satin pillow clutch — genuinely pillow-like, squashed under the arm — accompanied a blue floral jacquard pajama shirt, and a matte turquoise fold-over clutch echoed the turquoise pumps under a pink bow-front dress.

The most photographed accessory moment belonged to the shredded-raffia pieces: a dress in multicolor recycled-plastic fringe carried with a large clutch cut from the identical textile, bag and garment dissolving into each other mid-stride. It was the wittiest expression of the season’s thesis — the bag as part of the body, part of the crowd, part of the Comunión.

For a designer who spent a decade defining silhouette through tailoring, Spring 2027 confirms that Willy Chavarria now treats bags as a first-order category: one recognizable frame shape with a name and a backstory, a coherent hardware signature, exotics, volume pieces and evening whimsy. The Bronca has a personality — and, per its maker, a self-defense function. That is more narrative than most It-bag launches manage in five seasons.
