The Bags From Spring 27 Balenciaga Collection by Pierpaolo Piccioli

Balenciaga Spring 2027 bags by Pierpaolo Piccioli bring the house’s most recognizable accessory codes into a softer, lighter, more pliable register. Under the idea of “Unsized – A Lightness of Being,” the Spring 27 collection studies how clothes and accessories move around the body, with Le City, Rodeo, softened shoulder bags, rigid-supple totes, and new foldover shapes all handled with less weight and more movement.

In the official Balenciaga Spring 27 collection notes, the house describes “Unsized” as a light architecture shaped around the body, with accessories reconstituted through softness, pliability, washed Le City leathers and an ultralight nappa Rodeo.

The leathers are washed, folded, softened, sometimes almost collapsed into the hand. Hardware remains present, but it is less aggressive: studs, buckles, chain straps and zipper pulls become punctuation rather than spectacle. The bags keep the memory of Balenciaga’s street-coded decade, while moving closer to the couture logic of the house: construction, volume, proportion, tension.

Le City Returns in a Lighter, Washed Attitude

Le City appears as one of the most direct links to Balenciaga’s modern handbag mythology. In Spring 27, it looks less like a revival and more like a recalibration. The silhouette is still recognisable — soft body, top handles, moto hardware, dangling ties — but the mood is cleaner, less nostalgic.

White, turquoise, pink and black versions give the bag different personalities. The white Le City feels almost clinical against an all-white look. The turquoise version brings sharp color into otherwise muted tailoring. The pale pink style, worn with denim, softens the bag’s biker vocabulary. In black crinkled leather, it returns to its most familiar language, but with a more fluid, less overworked hand.

The Rodeo, Reconsidered in Nappa and Taffeta

The Rodeo is one of the strongest accessory statements of the collection. Piccioli keeps its layered construction and relaxed flap structure, but the bag appears softer, almost deflated in places, as if it has been designed to follow the body rather than hold a fixed architectural pose.

White, pink, turquoise, black, burgundy versions appear throughout the lookbook. Some are carried by hand, others on the shoulder. A fringed black Rodeo pushes the silhouette into evening territory, while the smooth black and brown versions make it look like a new everyday classic: elegant, but deliberately unpolished.

New Foldover Bags and Shoulder Shapes

Beyond Le City and Rodeo, Spring 27 introduces a series of unnamed bags that deserve attention. One group has a long, rectangular foldover shape with chain straps and brass hardware. These bags sit somewhere between clutch, shoulder bag and soft document case. In black, green and deep plum, they bring a couture-adjacent polish to the collection without becoming formal.

Another group is more angular: slim shoulder bags with curved handles, visible rivets and a compact body. The turquoise and black versions look particularly sharp, with a graphic quality that contrasts with the draped clothing around them. These are the bags that feel closest to Piccioli’s “unsized” idea — structured enough to read clearly, soft enough to move.

The Structured Tote and Top-Handle Bag

The collection also includes more pragmatic silhouettes. A tall studded tote appears in red and black, with long handles, front zip detail and the familiar Balenciaga hardware language. It brings utility into the collection without feeling purely functional.

A black top-handle bag with a curved flap, zip compartment and gold hardware reads as one of the most polished pieces in the line-up. A white version, shown in close-up, makes the construction feel even more graphic. It is one of the few bags in the collection that keeps a more formal top-handle posture, but the exposed layers and curved flap prevent it from becoming too classic.
